THE COMPANY WE KEEP

WORLD RENOWNED QUALITY

We are exceptionally fortunate to have some of the finest companies in the bourbon community contribute to the characteristics of IBB. Kelvin Cooperage, Independent Stave, WV Great Barrel, and Kentucky Artisan Distillery are recognized in the trade for their quality and commitment to creating the finest whiskeys. In a world of speed-to-market, breathing life into bourbon is a time-honored craft.

The Finest Barrels

We source our barrels from some of the finest cooperages in the world. The quality of the White Oak, the expertise in milling, and skill in making barrels matters when it comes to making the finest whiskey. By rule, all whiskey must be aged in oak containers. We choose the best of the best to age your whiskey.

A well-seasoned and properly built barrel will add flavor and color to your whiskey and will minimize leakage of the precious liquid. We can’t control Mother Nature and the amount of the Angels’ Share, but we can ensure the highest quality barrel to create exceptional flavor and retention.

Our barrels are made and charred by Kelvin Cooperage, Independent Stave Company, and WV Great Barrel Co.

Kentucky ARTISAN DISTILLERY

Every drop by Hand

It’s an old school thing. In 2012, Steve Thompson had the idea to create a place where people could ‘bottle their dreams’ in an old ice cream distribution facility located in Crestwood, KY. Steve, a member of the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame, leaned into his many years of experience at Brown-Forman and Hueblein to launch Kentucky Artisan Distillery. It was the first contract distillery in Kentucky and the only production-sized farm-to-bottle distillery capable of distilling as little as one barrel for a special occasion to 1000’s of barrels a year for partners like Jefferson’s Bourbon, Whiskey Row, J. W. Rutledge, CaskX, and others.
